Antheia Grow Smart

Antheia is a smart grow assistant — a hardware device and web app that helps you control temperature, humidity, light and soil conditions for complex plants like orchids or cannabis. I designed the full brand from scratch: the seed mascot, a character family for notifications, onboarding illustrations, a 12-month calendar series, the box packaging, and the UI for the web app. The goal was to make a technical product feel alive and approachable.

How it works
Antheia connects to your growing box via sensors and monitors temperature, humidity, light, soil moisture and pH in real time. The device feeds data to a web app where you set thresholds, get alerts and take action — all from your phone or browser. The onboarding flow walks the user through setting up their device and configuring their first grow profile. Each step uses illustration to reduce technical friction and make the process feel guided rather than mechanical.

Meet Antheia
Antheia the seed is your growing companion. She walks you through setting up your garden, helps you understand what your plants need, and keeps you informed as conditions change. The whole experience is built around her — from the first onboarding screen to every alert.
Each environmental condition has its own specialist character. Mr. Fire appears when temperatures spike and recommends turning on the fan. Mr. Frozen shows up when it gets too cold. Miss Humidity, Sir PH, Miss Dry — each one owns their domain and speaks directly to the grower when something needs attention. The characters make technical alerts feel like a conversation, not an error log.

10 characters, each one responsible for a different growing condition. They live in the app, appear in notifications, and react when something in the grow box needs your attention.

Analog by design
Growing plants have a rhythm — fertilisation days, harvest windows, treatment schedules. These dates matter but they're private. Growers don't want to upload that information anywhere. The Antheia calendar bridges the digital and the physical: the app tracks your conditions, the calendar on your wall tracks your days. No cloud, no privacy concerns, just a pen and a date.
Each month has its own illustration, featuring the Antheia characters in seasonal environments. Designed to live in your grow room.
